The scheme created a large public piazza linking all elements of the Transport Hub, shifting the emphasis from a vehicular dominated area to one within which the pedestrian took priority.
Careful consideration was given to the surface treatments of the public realm by referring to Lincolnshire County Council Highways and Transportation Department's defined palette of materials. It was important to create a balance between the practical requirements for durability and future maintenance placed upon the areas of adopted highway within the scheme, against the aesthetic and historic aspirations.
Street furniture was selected to contribute towards the function and enjoyment of the public spaces within the scheme.
“Lincoln Transport Hub provides a new impressive gateway to the city offering a high-quality experience to businesses, visitors and residents and is helpng achieve our vision of delivering Lincoln's ambitious future and our priority of driving economic growth."
